The “Royal Sword”, Preah Khan was, in the 12th century, a city, temple and Buddhist university with 97,840 attendants and servants, including 1,000 dancers and 1,000 teachers.

Today, Preah Khan remains largely unrestored, resulting in its most-notable feature: the large trees growing out and on top of the ruins. It’s also notable for its Hall of Dancers where pillars and walls are decorated with carved designs of dancing apsaras.
